"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Party Invite

Today Nathan brought home an invitation to a birthday party for a girl in his class. I glanced at where it was etc. but didn't pay much attention to the date or much else. It was going to be at the city ice center. Nathan was excited about that as we talked about ice skating and maybe going as a family. Later that day I looked closer at the invitation wanting to put it in my calendar. I realized it was on a Sunday. I was surprised. His first friend party on a Sunday. And in kindergarten. So I prepped myself for 'the talk' about keeping the sabbath day holy. I explained to Nathan about how Sunday is a special day, that we don't do things with friends and we spend time together as a family, etc. I finished with, "So, I'm sorry, but you can't go to Jade's birthday party." He just said, "Ok, Mom." I was surprised at his reaction and said, "Are you sad you can't go?" And he said, "No."  Well, ok then. That one was easy.  But will the next time?? I can only hope!
