"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Happy Halloween!

Don't eat too much Halloween candy! This is what my trick-or-treaters are getting!

We've had some fun Halloween parties...

Preschool parade

Party with Gramma J, Papa, and Parker. They came up on Sunday for Nathan's primary program.
 The cheeseball
 The punch
 Mummy and witch's broom breadsticks
 Ghost cupcakes

Gramma J always brings care packages. She knows how we feel about 'junk' though. They had goldfish crackers, apple juice, pretzels, and a balloon.

Once Nora took out the goldfish, she didn't want to do anything else but eat them.

And share them. And then she didn't really care about what else was in the bag.

This year marked the 4th Annual Holmgren Halloween party. J&N live in Colorado, K is also in Colorado doing her internship, H is in Arizona doing her internship, and D&A couldn't come. So instead of a family Halloween party, we invited friends!

The costumes

Flash, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, and Supergirl

The Criddles

The Burnetts
The Betournays (minus dad who had to work)
 Gramma Kathy and Grampa
The food

The fun

Of course you have to include pumpkin carving

 And haunted house building

And Halloween pancakes! What else would we eat??

Green smoothies

We love making smoothies at our house. We always had spinach, there is no added flavor at all, and tons of healthy goodness! But, I usually also have blueberries to put in them. A purple smoothie is alot easier to sell to a 4yr old than a green smoothie. I haven't had blueberries for a few weeks, so our smoothies have been green. The first night, I put them in a cup with a lid and straw so Nathan couldn't see the color. He drank it up. The next time, he wouldn't even try it because it was green. So the next time, I told him we were having a Halloween green monster smoothie. I told him to close his eyes and plug his nose and just try one bite. He agreed and of course loved it. So we've had quite a few green monster smoothies at our house this month!

Yup, it's even in her hair.

Corey really does like them. He just thinks he's funny.
