"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Friends

I just got these pictures otherwise I would have posted this earlier.

About a month ago, I had lunch with some friends. Not just any old friends. Some of my very favorite girls in the entire world.

From left to right: Kami (Isom) Clark {my room-roommate during my freshman year}, Whitney (Doe) I-actually-can't-remember-her-married-name-right-now, me {blah}, Nicole (Redford) Pierce {not a roommate, but should have been also from freshman year}, Amanda Horrocks {another roommate from freshman year}, and Whitney Stewart {my roommate during freshman and sophomore year + one summer and my maid of honor when I got married}.

We decided to all get together for lunch, maybe for one last time, because soon, and very soon for some, we will no longer be close enough that we can get together to hang out, let alone be in the same state. *sigh* Moving on. Such a bitter-sweet thing.

We had fun reminiscing about the old times and updating everyone on what was going on in our lives right now. Amanda is a talented scrapbooker and brought scrapbooks and photo albums from 'the early days'. Pictures can be so hilarious to look back on!

Friends are amazing and I don't think I'd be who I am today without these girls being a part of my life! So, thank you! (to the two of you who look at my blog)

I'm the mom of a one year old...so weird.

Nathan's birthday was on Sunday. Here's some favorite pictures from the day.

His Lego birthday cake. It's his favorite toy to play with. And the goodies table at the party.

Our awesome family and friends.

Nathan pulled the lid of his sippy cup off and his juice poured all down the front of him. He was wearing a bib, so most of the juice just slid off and was soaked up with the seat of his pants.

Opening gifts

While we were singing. He really wanted to tough the flame on the candle.

Eating the cake. He wasn't quite sure of it at first. But all he needed was a little taste.

Sharing with Mom and Dad.

The messy face. Yes, there's frosting in his hair. It's inevitable when you have so much.

I was surprised how much he actually ate.

And the best part of all, getting cleaned up. He acts like this no matter how dirty he is or isn't.

Honest Scrap

Katie tagged me at least a week ago and I've had struggles finding time to post. (obviously, since my lack of posting anything before now.)

So, here goes. I've done similar-ish things before so I'll try to come with something new.

It is called the honest scrap award and these are the rules...

A) First list 10 honest things about yourself--and make it interesting even if you have to dig deep.

B) Pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of Honest Scrap...

(1) I really like ice cream. I could eat it all day everyday, but I don't because once when I ate too much, bad things happened. Things related to the bathroom and further details will not be released.

(2) I laugh hysterically sometimes at the faces Nathan pulls and at some of the things he does. But then when I try to tell people about it because it was so INCREDIBLY funny, they just smile and give a little courtesy chuckle. Why is that? Don't they know that my baby is the cutest thing on the planet? ;)

(3) My
first kiss was when I was 14. Not super proud of that age. But now kissing is going on way younger than that. What has happened to the world?

(4)
I sometimes wonder where I would be and what I would be doing if I hadn't gotten (surprise!) pregnant. But, honestly, those moments don't last very long.

(5) The thing that
hurts my feelings the absolute most is when somebody is mad at me or doesn't like me and I don't know or understand why. And when people don't forgive me after I've apologized several times. And when people I really care about don't support me and the things I'm involved in.

(6) I really like knowing
secrets about people. I know gossiping is bad. But if I find out for myself, and don't spread it to others, is that still bad?

(7) I want to be
crafty and make things to put around my house, but I struggle when it comes to ideas, designing the specifics, and wanting to spend money on things like that.

(8) I actually don't mind
sleeping by myself when Corey is gone. When he was gone for basic training, it was hard to get used to at first. Now, it's not as bad. Actually making myself get in bed alone is a different story. But I tend to sleep better when he's gone because I don't wake up every time he moves and I get to spread out right in the middle of the bed.

(9) Speaking of beds, I love my pillow.
It's perfect.

(10) I
love getting massages... full body, shoulder/back, foot... You name, I love it. But, not usually giving them. I know. Selfish.

Boring. I know. I tag...

Satan's Convention

--Unknown Author--

Satan called a worldwide convention. In his opening address to his evil angels, he said, "We can't keep the Christians from going to church. We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth. We can't even keep them from forming an intimate, abiding relationship experience in Christ. If they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken". "So let them go to their churches; let them have their conservative lifestyles, but steal their time, so they can't gain that relationship with Jesus Christ. This is what I want you to do, angels. Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!" "How shall we do this?" shouted his angels. "Keep them busy in the non essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,"he answered."Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow. Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.

"Keep them from spending time with their children. As their family fragments, soon, their home will offer no escape from the pressures of work! Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice. Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive. To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical music constantly. This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.

"Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers. Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day. Invade their driving moments with billboards. Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes. Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines so the husbands will believe that external beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. Ha! That will fragment those families quickly!

"Even in their recreation, let them be excessive. Have them return from their recreation exhausted, disquieted and unprepared for the coming week. Don't let them go out in nature to reflect on God's wonders.Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, concerts and movies instead. Keep them busy, busy, busy! And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences and unsettled emotions." It was quite a convention. The evil angels went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get more busy and more rushed, going here and there.

So how much of this applies to you?
