"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Chocolate LAVA

Corey requested something yummy. So I made it. And it was yummy. Strawberries on Chocolate Lava cake sprinkled with powered sugar. I know the pictures aren't very good. It looked better in person and tasted delicious!

Finally Blogging

2nd 5k. Race for the Cure in Salt Lake City. Loved it. So inspiring with all the people that came out to support breast cancer. My cousin's wife, Jen's, mom is fighting it. I'm so happy we got to run it with her. I felt on the verge of tears on more than one occasion. It was really great. Our time was a rough estimate because they weren't timing us. We're just going off Corey's watch time. But, I knocked somewhere between 2-3 minutes. It was different running with Corey because he really pushed my speed. I didn't think I could really go that fast for so long. I felt good though. I still love it. Next races aren't until June 12 and June 19. Hopefully I can knock even more time off!
The running across the finish line picture is totally posed. We didn't see Mike and Mike didn't see us. Can you tell? :) But can you blame him? There were thousands upon thousands of people there. Again, so inspiring!

One. Big. Goose. Egg.

I apologize for the horrible photos taken with my absolute-cheapest-Verizon-phone-possible. They don't do it justice.

Nathan fell out of his mock big boy bed (i.e. crib with the front taken off) during his nap on Saturday. I'm not completely sure what he hit his head on because there's nothing in the way. The only possibility is the rocking chair, which is still weird. I watched it swell. It was immediately bruised. I put olive oil on it. {olive oil is my new cure all. It makes bumps and stuff not swell, or not swell as bad. But you need to put it on right after the bumpage happens. It really does work. Nathan's goose egg wasn't as later that night as it was right after it happened.}

So it could be a lot worse. Today, it's looking better. But there's still a bump and the bruising has turned a yellowish color, which I know is good in bruise world, but bad to look at.

Loved it. Bring on another.

Ogden Clinic Shadow Valley Elementary 5K / 1-mile

My first one went great and I loved it! My time was 31:31, which is a 10:08 mile. That is pretty close to what I'd been practicing on the treadmill in running 6.0 mph which is a 10 minute mile. I was 69th overall out of maybe 250 or so and the 7th woman in my age group.

I realize this isn't a super fast time for only 3.2 miles, but my goal for my first time was to just not walk. I wanted to keep running the whole time. Which I totally did. I paced myself really good and was pleased with how good I felt. I only almost got a side ache once, just a little, so I lifted my arms and concentrated on my breathing and it went away. I wanted to really speed it up and go strong at the end, but I didn't know how much farther I had until I was almost done. I'm not very familiar with Ogden. Nor do I have a super fancy running gadget. Someday though. Someday.

I totally loved the 5k. I can't wait to do another one on Saturday again. Corey ended up not running with me because we woke up late so he took care of the motel and Nathan and I just hurried and got ready then left.

So I realize that my body is kind of twisted in this picture. I consciously try to not twist when I run because I don't want to waste my energy with extra movements. Hopefully, I look like this just because I was slowing down or something.

p.s. Thanks goes to Hazen and Charlotte for the picture
