"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Kite Flying

Nathan has recently learned what flying a kite is and has been asking about it for a little bit. So we finally bought him a kite. In looking at the selection at the store, I picked out two designs that I thought he would be interested in. I said, "Nathan, do you want the race car kite or the basketball kite?" He put his finger on his mouth, tapping inquisitively, and then said, "Ummm, uh, I want...I want..." then while punching his hand forward and making a very intense look on his face, he said, "I want the FIRE KITE!" He then made what he thought was the sound fire makes. WHOOSSSSHHHHH. He was obviously very excited about the FIRE kite.

So a couple of days later, when it was windy enough, Corey took Nathan out to our 'front yard' (i.e. the motel parking lot) to fly a kite. Nathan loved it. Understatement.

And then the wind changed really fast and the kite wrapped itself 3 times around a wire and then flew right into a tree.

Nathan is still telling everyone, including random strangers (which he openly talks to everywhere we go), about his fire kite in the tree and how we need to get a new one at the store.

Nathan: Look, look, Mom, see? See? My fire kite. My fire kite's stuck in the tree. Up really high. Look, Mom, see? My fire kite. Need to get a new one at the store. See, Mom? My fire kite.
