"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Dump

****Disclaimer: It has taken me 3 days to do this post so you better enjoy it!! :)****

It's been so long. Who knew that having two kids would be so much work. By the time they are both asleep at night, why would I choose to blog when I can go to sleep? So why am I blogging tonight? Well, I had to stay up to get some bookkeeping work done (I way can't work on the computer like that during the day) and since the internet is actually working right now, I thought I'd better give you the picture dump you've all been dying to see.

First, some updates.

Nathan
~now potty trained
~peed in the bed once (thanks to Corey who thought he was ready. That's ok, I'm not mad)
~is so grown up now
~talks like crazy and always in complete sentences. I'll ask, "Nathan, what's your favorite color?" "My    favorite color iiiiissss... blue."
~he always calls Nora a 'he' or 'him'. I'm continually correcting him. So far, it hasn't worked.
~he LOVES his little sister. A little too much. She gets annoyed by him already.
~he likes playing with ants and letting them crawl all over his finger. Well, liked, I should say. That was until one bit him, he cried, and then had a horrible nightmare that night waking up very upset because there were apparently ants in his bed. We were at my parents house for a couple of days to work on some family reunion stuff while Corey stayed home to run the motel. I couldn't get him calmed down enough to sleep in his bed there, so I let him sleep with me.
~he loves watering the garden and flowers with dad
~he loves going to the gym with us every morning to play with his friends. He likes to grab the 3 pound weights and starts doing exercises with them
~his question of choice is not 'why' over and over and over, it's 'where'.
~is so weird about his socks and his feet. He absolutely has to wear socks like all the time. If his socks fall off in the middle of the night, he will wake up very upset and come crying upstairs that he 'lost his socks'. So we have to take him back to his room, find his socks in his blankets, put them back on, and then he will go back to sleep. The other day, I forgot to bring socks up for him to put on after his bath with his jammies. He wouldn't stand on the bathroom floor unless he was standing on the rug or the towel. Then when we were going down to his room, he wouldn't walk on the kitchen floor because he didn't have his socks on. There was a blanket on the floor still from Nora laying on it, so he stepped onto the blanket and scooted across the floor to the stairs until he could step on to the carpet. Funny kid.

Some funny things he's said lately...
Nathan: Where we going?
Mom: We're gonna go get shakes.
N: Oh! I like protein shakes!

Mom's pointing to various facial parts and asking Nathan what they are...
point. Eyes. point. Ears. point. Nanas (bananas). No, bud, those are eyebrows.

Nathan asks various people we talk to if they have 'special baby milk'. Not that big of a deal, except when they are random people checking in to the motel.

Sitting around the dinner table... "We are a happy family." Why, yes. Yes we are.

She's the best Nora June.

Nora
-2 months old now as of Tuesday the 12th.
-weighed 13.1 (95th percentile), 24" long (95th percentile), head circumference is 40.3 cm (90th percentile) at her checkup.
-is oh-so-sweet
-smiling
-cooing
-too big for half of her 0-3 month size clothing
-not an awesome nurser. I was getting a little frustrated, so I went to visit a lactation nurse. I'm feeling a little calmer about things. Apparently I have a really reactive let down and she can't swallow fast enough. It does seem to be getting a little bit better. I also don't think I can eat onions...
-is really just the sweetest thing
-has the most kissable little cheeks ever
-loves her baths and lotion messages
-has let her mom sleep for a whole 5 hours in a row one time
-did I mention how sweet she is?

Mindi
-back at the gym and loving it
-busy planning a big ol' family reunion the first weekend in August. Hopefully it will be really fun.
-is probably getting released from her Primary calling in the near future. The president is moving. I'm feeling a little :( about it.
-wonders why one little being can multiply your laundry by so much
-is dying to go shopping and buy all new clothes and shoes. If only I had a million dollars...

Corey
-is in his first semester at a new school, Amridge University, and is doing so, so good. He transferred schools for multiple reasons and this new school is a much better fit for him
-Continues to lift weights everyday for 90 minutes and can now bench press about 275 and squat about 315
-helps me out so much
-cooked breakfast, lunch, AND dinner all in one day for the first time in our married lives last week. It was all very good. He was quite proud of himself
-gives the best shoulder and foot messages
-continues to support me in everything I do

How cute are kids when they are sleeping. He has to sleep with lots of blankets. And Mickey, Teddy, and Boo are also a must.

Nora and Brec having a conversation.

Corey's first Father's day with 2 kids. And the only picture I got was fuzzy...

I wanted so bad to get a picture with Nora and her cute outfit for Father's Day. It says Daddy's Lil' Lady. She even had ladybugs on her socks. But unless that pacifier was in...

...she was doing this.

Nathan's new favorite thing at "Gwama and Gwampa's house," says Nathan. The scooter.

Fireworks with friends.

"Where's the fireworks, kids?" "Right there!"

Cute 4th of July dress.

Look at her double chin! So kissable!

And sprinkler! sprinkler! sprinkler! I'm teaching her to dance like me already.

Parade and Candy drop

Bath time! Yes, she bathes in an oversized rubber ducky. Hey, it matched the decor.

The only way I can do laundry when she is insisting on being held.

And now, camping and boating at Bear Lake with the Holmgrens.

Hopefully your life has been enriched by sticking through and reading this incredibly long post. Thank you and goodnight.

Great post! If only we could get up there more to visit you. I need to meet little Nora! Funny thing, I went to a barbecue at my friend's house the other day, and met your friends/old neighbors Valerie and Blake! They told me all about the fun time they had at the Sandman Motel for the 4th! What great people! And no coincidence they'd be friends with you and Corey. Love you guys.

I read all of your post and I enjoyed it. I know how you feel about it taking forever to post stuff. I don't know why it takes me so long. You would think I would be more efficient after a couple years but evidently I am not. Cute about the socks. My kids hate socks. I have to beg them to put them on and then they take them off at the first chance they get. Your babe is growing quite well. My baby Porter had his 6 month well check today and his head size was only 4 percentile. Tell me her head wasn't in the 90th percentile when she was born. Glad you guys are doing great.

Fun times! I can't wait for us to be a family of four! And as for the "reactive letdown" I totally know what you mean. That was me with Brooklyn. I only lasted about 4 1/2 months nursing because it was just too frustrating. My letdown was really hard and she would almost choke every time, so I would have to pull her off for a minute while half my milk supply squirted into a burp rag. Needless to say, she always seemed hungry and it was hard to feed in public places! But I hope you figure it out. I never did, but I'm a whimp and just gave up! Knowing you, you'll champion your way right through!

YAAAAAY for updates!! And thanks for the text the other day ... I was actually just thinking of you :) BTW, my blog isn't private anymore, so I'm not updating the 'update' blog (silly family can't figure out the private thing!) I can't believe I haven't met Nora ... maybe lunch in the next few weeks? I can come to your neck of the woods! I'll call you :)
