"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty. You might say, I am not the creative type. If that is how you feel, think again. Creation is your opportunity in this life….. Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create."

Gratitude post day 6

Happiest 2nd birthday to my little cutie, Lexie! I am so grateful she joined our family. She makes us laugh all the time. Her facial expressions and how she pronounces her words are just so funny. 'Meh' is Nora. 'Yam' is yes. 'Saesin' is Nathan. 'Ee' is and, at, is, the, all those little words and more. When she sings 'Mary had a Little Lamb', it sounds like this...Picture a little girl rocking back and forth in double time to the speed she is singing. "Ee wam, ee wam, ee wam. S-nooooooow!" But don't worry, the scale has to be balanced. She causes me an equal amount of frustration every time she's a little stinker.

I must also say that I feel grateful she is alive. I used to tease about Nora making it to another birthday because she was just so adventurous and always getting hurt. While I do still tease a little, I am lagitamently so grateful she is still alive. In this past year alone, Lexie has gotten badly burned, poisoned by dog meds, swallowed small beads, and nearly drowned in the little pond that no longer exists in our backyard. Not to mention all of the many bonks and bruises in between. I fully recognize that each of these experiences could have been much worse then they actually were. But that doesn't make them any less scary. There must be a reason that this little soul is supposed to be on this earth. I know she has already taught me so much. Lexie's sweet and loving spirit has been very calming to me in many of my 'moments'. She has helped me to be a calmer and more loving mother.

Our lives would not be the same without her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

As a side note, I left her glove off all day today for the first time. It's a trial to see how her hand handles it, i.e. the scar tissue. So far so good...
